Government Funding of Sports Arenas - Good idea or bad idea?

Should the Federal government be spending money to build sports arenas? What is the argument in favor of doing this? What is the argument against providing money for this type of project? What do you think?

Does this type of debate happen at other levels of government?

    This link will take you to an article about public funding for a new arena to be built in Quebec City. I think it is a good idea to publicly fund projects such as building new sports arenas. Building these facilities will allow cities in Canada to attract major events which will help the economy.

    Public funding for new sports arena's is a great idea, it helps to promote healthy lifestyles. Our society needs to get out more and stay off the couch.
