I don't know how many of you are animal lovers but I sure am. I found a couple of articles on Manitoba's new animal protection act. It's kind of interesting to see the changes the province has made to further protect animals. Personally, I'm totally for the new amendments and act. I think the province is only going to get better with protecting animals as animal cruelty and negligence is a huge problem that isn't given enough attention. Anyways, just wondering what your thoughts/opinions are and if you think there's anything else Manitoba should do to protect animals. The first link is from the Province of Manitoba site and states the act and the changes. The second article is from CBC News and shows how vets feel about the new act. Enjoy!

I am very supportive of Manitoba's move to further protect animals. Because animals cannot speak for themselves I feel the province speaking out to reduce the harm to animals is very proactive. The specific point that caught my attention was the change to protect vets should they speak out about suspected abuse. The thought that they were unable to before due to the repercussions was disheartening. I also was pleased to see that the fine for animal abuse was increasing (and was so high to begin with). Lately I've been hearing more and more about cases of animal abuse on the news therefore this positive change was nice to hear!
